New Port is about twice as large as Seattle by population, but not by area. The city extends across several islands as well as the mainland and has many bridges, as well as a dense urban core with a considerable number of skyscrapers, more than are in the real Seattle. While Dreadnought is an attractive young woman, please keep in mind this is a YA book, so her suit should not overly sexualize her.ĭreadnought is flying over New Port City, a fictionalized version of Seattle that is situated on the southern shore of Puget Sound, rather than the eastern shore. It is snug to her body but is thick enough of a material that it’s more like a wetsuit than spandex. The suit itself is the product of some sci-fi like technology, so it might have subtle seams or raised sections where its internal circuitry interfaces with the outside world via discreet sensors. Otherwise a plain circle or some other simple design. At the center of her chest, along the bottom of the line of her cape-and-mantle, she might have a small (three or four inches) circle with a silhouette of a battleship if you can make it look good. It should be no longer than the tops of her boots at most. When standing, her cape hangs down to a few inches below the back of her knees, near the upper calf. It also extends a noticeable ways up her neck and is snug to her throat, rising to something almost like a mandarin collar that ends maybe an inch or so beneath her chin. Her cape is white on both sides and wraps around her shoulders, covering the top part of her chest to a little bit further down than her collar bones. She wears a snug blue bodyglove with integrated gloves and flat, heavily treaded boots (think combat boots, but blue and fitting to a flush seal with the suit as it reaches down to her calves).

This is not a Christopher Nolan superhero, this is a colorful, hopeful character.ĭreadnought is a young woman (15 years old) with short blonde hair and green eyes. Ideas to communicate: Excitement, confidence, joy. Target audience: YA readers, and by extension publishers attempting to sell books to readers age 14 to 19. I need a high resolution illustration of Dreadnought, the title character of my book, to use as a splash page on my website.
